OUR MISSION: To help Christians and spiritual seekers become Gospel-driven followers of Christ.

OUR VISION:
To build a network of Gospel-driven communities in which...
...strugglers become hopeful...
...skeptics are attracted to Christ...
...religious people lose their religion...
...and Gospel-driven people become servants for the benefit of strugglers, skeptics, and religious people.

MARK PFUETZE (Counseling)

Name:  Mark Pfuetze (mpfuetze@earthlink.net) aka "Frazier"

Role @ Riverside:
Counselor

Family: I am married to Mollie and on January 12, 2006 we welcomed a beautiful baby girl, Mallory Elizabeth, into the world.

Education: BA History (University of Kansas); BA Music Synthesis, BA Music Production & Engineering (Berklee College of Music); M.Div. and Master of Arts in Counseling (Covenant Theological Seminary); currently working on a PhD in Counseling (UMSL).

Dream for Riverside: That Riverside would be a safe place for people to share their struggles with one another as they seek to serve and rest in the Lord and His grace.

Favorite quote: "God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him." (John Piper, Desiring God) and...
"Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken.  If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give it to no one, not even an animal.  Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements.  Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness.  but in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change.  It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable.  the only place outside Heaven where you can be perfectly safe from all the dangers of love is Hell."  (C.S. Lewis, The Four Loves)

Favorite big screen moment: The Two Towers: Gandalf coming over the ridge with the Riders of Rohan to destroy the Orcs at Helm's Deep - this is a beautiful image of the return of Christ as He destroys sin and evil.  Also...
Chariots of Fire: When Eric Liddell tells his sister that "God made him fast and when he runs he feels His pleasure."

Favorite music: Coldplay; Talking Heads; the Stone Roses; Dave Matthews Band; U2.

Heroes and mentors: John Calvin, John Piper, Ravi Zacharias, Dan Allender

What I am learning these days: The power of true confession and forgiveness in conflicted relationships

A few of my favorite things: Traveling, eating out, and hanging out with my wife; holding my little girl; playing with my little dog Izzy; reading; Playstation2; Macintosh Powerbook; playing my bass and acoustic guitar; watching a good movie; watching the DVD set of Lost with my wife; a nice cold beer or glass of wine; iPod; 24; KU Jayhawks; hanging out with good friends; family
